Reno cracks down on overnighting in parking lots

RENO, Nev. (AP) - The city of Reno is cracking down on recreational vehicles that park overnight in casino parking lots, prompting a backlash from RVers who say they'll boycott the city.
City officials said an ordinance on the books since 1996 outlaws RV camping anywhere in the city except in designated parks with water and sewage hookups.
The concerns are health-related, said Alex Woodley, Reno city code enforcement manager.
‘‘I've observed people stepping out of their RV and (urinating) outside the door,'' Woodley told the Reno Gazette-Journal. ‘‘We've had individuals use a Wal-Mart lot and instead of being a good citizen, at 2 a.m. they'll dump their gray water and take off, leaving a hazardous situation.''
This week the city has received about two dozen e-mails from RV owners who wrote of the convenience of overnighting in casino parking lots and patronizing the casino and restaurants as well as other retail establishments.
One letter from Idaho read, “We spend a lot of money there each year. I just cannot believe that you would take this away from us, and your own merchants!
‘‘You should know that there is a campaign that has started via the Internet to boycott Reno as a result of this,'' it warned.
Mayor Bob Cashell acknowledged that only a fraction of the RVers cause problems but added, ‘‘There's always that one-half percent that screws it up for everybody.”
Laughlin went through the same issue during the 2005-06 snowbird season when Clark County Health Department officials cracked down on “dry camping” in casino parking lots. Accommodations were eventually made for RV visitors.

Hi I am new too the wi-fi generation and just bought a playstation 3 for myself and the kids. When I pull into a place with wi-fi is it already LIVE or do I have to pay something or download software?

Hi..I got a beerbelly too..haha...I have mine screwed and glued down plus waterproofing over that. Mine is the winegard that is cranked up from inside though..never had any wind troubles. Is your the dish used for reidential installs??

Ford Recall
Hi..just got a letter from Ford motor company telling me that they finally have the recall parts for my "speed control deactivation switch" alias..cruise control. We have waited a long time for this and were afraid to drive our 2000 tioga e450 because of what they told us what could happen...have any of you gone through this or had it fixed already? Does it take days? any hidden charges? :@thanx

"Alternative Fuel Conversion?"
Hi there...Just wondering if alt fuel kits will someday be availble for our RV's? Can you imagine getting 20 mpg? Maybe even electric conversion? Solar? Could any of this be a reality??

Nitrogen???
Hi..I am seeing more and more ads about how great filling your tires with nitrogen is, sounds strange! Have any of you done this? What do you do when you need to add more air to your tires before a trip...can you mix compressor air with the nitrogen? What happens when there is a blowout? Thanks in advance for you replies!

I got one...I took mine to Big O tires for service and they put it on the lift and smashed the******out of my step...they beat it back and left it all bent up but still working. Then denied ever doing it!!! "Just Say No"...to Big O".

I prepared for 2 hours before hand to get spots at San elijo state beach..i got on the site but the connection slowed down to a crawl and by the time their site finally loaded I got Nothing! All the sites for my specific dates were gone! Very Unhappy with them! I was calling on the phone at the same time and still nothing!

Hydro-locked???
Hello...after my recent service at the ford dealer the service manager told me to start my e450 v-10 at least once every week or it can hydro lock and cost a fortune to rebuild the motor. Has anyone ever heard of this and do you start yours every week while winterized? Thanks.
